Global Education

Today, employers are looking for more than just a degree; they want well-rounded individuals who have familiarity with diverse cultures, special skills and knowledge of the global marketplace. High Point University students travel abroad for several weeks or for an entire semester to more than 29 countries within 61 study abroad programs.

There are many opportunities for all students to study abroad. I always tell students, no matter what major you are or how busy you might be, we always have either a program or a country that you can visit.

We currently have partnerships with 61 institutions around the world in 29 different countries. Students can go for a full semester or a full year. We also have short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs. Starting that first summer after their studies at HPU, they could be traveling the world with our faculty studying.

I went on a Maymester to Japan. And it was one of the best experiences of my life. We learned about the culture, the food, the people, the language. I really feel like I came out of that with a lot of growth.

At High Point University, our mission, our goal, is to create global citizens. And so these are some of the benefits-- time management, budget management skills. Cross-cultural communication skills are huge.

I had to deal with people from different countries, from different cultures who thought differently than the way that I think. And coming back here to the United States, I really started to notice that in how I started talking to other people. And that really enriched my experience here at High Point. And hopefully my future employers will see that, as well.
